الحـمـرا بـلـوز

Qoute from Kazamaza: "My mother, who is Greek and who, bless her, speaks the most fluent kitchen Arabic with a Greek accent you would ever wish to hear. She was working for Merrill Lynch in a makeshift office that was actually three adjoining hotel rooms off Hamra street. One day she noticed her desk was wobbly. She called hotel maintenance to ask someone to check the screws in the desk. The man promptly came to find out what the problem was. "El maktab baddou baragheet," explained my mother. (Now, baragheet is 'fleas', whereas as 'screws', which is the word she meant, is baraghee. The desk needs screws, she intended to say).

"Baragheet, Madame? Ma fee baragheet bi Hotel Cavalier! (There are no fleas in our prestigious hotel!)"
" Bala fee, shouf! El maktab bi yerqos, baddou baragheet," she said indignantly. (Of course there are fleas, the desk is dancing. It needs fleas!)

They went to and fro for a while and the man finally gave up graciously and said, " OK, OK, Madame, I have the solution."
He came back 10 minutes later carrying a can of bug spray. He proceeded to fumigate the office to my mother's great dismay and ended with a flourish,
"Voila, Madame. No more baragheet in the office!"

ستحبون حمرا بلوز المليئ بذكريات شارع الحمراء الخمسينات والستينات والسبعينات. أخاطب الشباب اللبناني الذي لا يذكر نزهات شارع الحمراء والاحتيار بين فيلم لكلارك غايبل في "كازابلانكا" او لمشاهدة ساحر العيون رشدي أباظة مع نادية لطفي. الحمراء قلب بيروت الحيوي بمطاعمه وقصص كتّابه المنزويين في زوايا مقاهيه التي تشبه مقاهي أرصفة باريس. شارع الحمراء الذي تسابق الممثلون الهوليوديون والاوروبيين على التصوير امام واجهات محلاته الانيقة التي نازعت اماكن التسوق في لندن وميلانو. صور وقصص يرويها سكان وزوار شارع الحمراء.

الغرافيك والالوان جميلة جدا ومتناسقة في قالب غير متفلسف بالعنتريات التقنية. كل كلمة تنطق بحب للشارع وقاطنيه. لا اعرف لماذا تسمع بين السطور تنهدات أسف على ما اصبح عليه الحمراء رغم عودته الى نبضه مؤخرا. قد يضايقك سماع الموسيقى المصاحبة عندما تتصفح الموقع، خاصة وانه لا يوجد عندك خيار توقيفها.
